Entrepreneurship is a social phenomenon which involves complex interactions between humans and the societal context in which they live, play, and learn. As a result, it is often considered an important field of study for the social sciences. It also is an interdisciplinary discipline that draws upon the disciplines of sociology, management, law and public policy, anthropology and management of not-for-profit organizations.
We map the research on entrepreneurship for non-business students in this article and propose a framework to guide existing research based on the four dimensions of social-learning, which include observational learning, the role of peers and mentors and the entrepreneurial ecosystem as a platform to social-learning and institutional influences. We further examine how this framework could be applied in a more systematic way to guide research and development of entrepreneurship education in the future. We also present a detailed study of bibliometrics supported by VOSviewer and Bibliometrix which reveals the most prominent authors, organizations as well as countries, seminar articles journals, topics, and seminar articles. This gives a complete and in-depth understanding of the current state of the field. The analysis also contains information about future research areas and knowledge gaps.
